​The 60-minute song cycle In The Tavern Of Sweet Songs was written in 2007. 
This new recording – with 17 powerful and atmospheric tracks – brings together
two acclaimed British singers, Lucy Knight and Jeff Stewart, and pianist
synonymous with song, director of the London Song Festival, Nigel Foster.

 

The cycle is a sequence of evocative songs, setting vivid Persian poetry. It carries a message of hope, resilience, love, transformation, and deep humanity. It relates the story of a personal love that is transformed into a powerful, universal, and profound spirituality of unbounded reach.

 

The songs are lyrical and weave a symphonic thread with melodies and themes developed and returning throughout the cycle; each also presents its own individual, musically unified story.
