NEW CD RELEASE – 16 APRIL 2021
CAPRICCIO—chamber music premières
Featured on Australia's ABC Classic
radio & BBC Radio 3 Breakfast
This album is unified by a stimulus drawing on ideas of memory, time and feelings awoken by the simple act of remembering—inspired by a collaboration between performers and composer that began with the première in Germany in 2019, of the duo Memoria non est in mente (‘Memory is not in the mind’).
Poignant performances by an extraordinary international trio of artists—comprising violinist Hayley Bullock, cellist Dmitrij Gornowskij and pianist Amir Tebenikhin.
The title work, Capriccio, is partly a response to Boccaccio’s Decameron—stories told against the backdrop of the plague in Italy during the Middle Ages—while the Cello Sonatina and the violin sonata Beautiful Are The Drinking Doves draw on the January feast of Epiphany and Roman mosaics in Malta.
